Does the mobile app work without internet?

Yes — the Monival Data Collect app is fully offline-first. Enumerators can collect submissions, capture GPS coordinates, and save media without any connectivity. Data syncs automatically when the device reconnects.

Can I import forms from KoboToolbox or ODK?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Upload your existing XLSForm .xlsx file and Monival brings across your questions and choice lists, so you are not retyping an instrument. Two things do not come across — repeat groups are dropped, and conditional (skip) logic is not imported. You re-add both in the Monival form builder, so review an imported form before you send it to the field.

How does geofencing work?

You define a geographic boundary for each project. If an enumerator collects outside that boundary, the mobile app warns them and the location is stored with the submission, so your M&E team can spot out-of-area records during review. The warning does not block the submission, and there is no soft/hard mode to configure.

What reporting integrations are available?

Monival exposes an OData feed compatible with Power BI and Excel. You can also configure webhooks to push submission events to any external system, or use the REST API to pull data programmatically.

Is my data kept separate from other organisations?

Accepted Answer

Every record is scoped to your organisation, and every query is tenant-filtered, so one organisation's data is never returned to another. Role-based access control governs who inside your organisation can see and edit what. If your programme requires physical separation rather than logical separation, a dedicated instance or a self-hosted deployment is available on the Enterprise plan.

Yes. The Free plan covers up to 3 projects, 10 forms, and 500 submissions a month, with offline mobile collection and basic reports. No credit card is required to start. The pricing page lists the current limits for every plan.
